View Obstacles →Clash of Clans launched in August 2012 and has spent the years since building one of the most expansive cosmetic libraries in mobile gaming. What began as a purely bare-bones village builder has evolved into a game where visual identity matters deeply — your hero skins, your village scenery, the decorations dotting your base, and even the seasonal obstacles growing in your corners all tell a story about when you played, what you earned, and what you valued as a collector.
This Wiki is your complete reference for all of it. Whether you're trying to identify a specific skin from a screenshot, learn the history behind a seasonal decoration, or figure out which obstacles can still be obtained today — this is the place to start.
Hero skins in Clash of Clans were introduced relatively late in the game's lifecycle, but quickly became its most beloved cosmetic category. The very first hero skin — Royal Ghost for the Barbarian King — arrived during the 2018 Halloween event and was only obtainable by completing specific event challenges. It set the tone for what hero skins would become: limited, thematic, and often tied to a cultural moment.
Today there are six heroes in the game: the Barbarian King, Archer Queen, Grand Warden, Royal Champion, Minion Prince, and Dragon Duke. Each has received a growing roster of skins, ranging from freely unlockable seasonal rewards to exclusive Gold Pass cosmetics. Some skins — like those tied to long-past events or early seasons — have never been re-released and are considered genuinely rare among the collector community.
Gold Pass skins follow a monthly cadence, with each season's pass including a featured skin for one of the heroes. These skins are considered seasonal exclusives — once the season ends, they are gone. This makes collecting Gold Pass skins a time-sensitive challenge that rewards consistent players.
Many players chop obstacles down and never think twice — but for collectors, obstacles are one of the most fascinating categories in the game. Unlike hero skins or decorations, obstacles spawn naturally in your village over time, meaning you can't simply buy them. You have to be there when they appear.
The most iconic example is the Clashmas Tree, which has appeared every December since 2014. Each year's tree is visually distinct — making a collection of multiple Clashmas trees a rare and impressive sight. Similarly, the Anniversary Cake obstacle appears in August to celebrate the game's birthday, with each year's design being unique.
Some obstacles are permanent spawns (like regular trees and rocks), while others only appear during specific seasons or events. Special obstacles often only spawn once during a limited window, making older variants increasingly hard to come by. If you've kept them all instead of removing them — your village is a living archive of Clash history.
Sceneries completely transform the backdrop of your village — changing the sky, landscape, and environmental feel of your entire base. The original "Classic" scenery has been the default since launch, but Supercell began introducing alternative sceneries around 2016. Today there are dozens of sceneries tied to seasonal events, Gold Pass seasons, special promotions, and the in-game shop. Popular options include the Lunar New Year scenery, various collaboration sceneries, and the recent Dragon Escape backdrop.
Decorations are placed items that appear in your village visually but don't serve a gameplay function. They include seasonal statues (like Jack-o'-lanterns and snowmen), event trophies, anniversary pieces, and limited edition items from collaborations and special milestones. Unlike obstacles, decorations are typically purchased or earned through specific in-game events and are not automatically removed — meaning once you have a decoration, it stays in your inventory permanently.
