Welcome back, fellow Clashers! With Sneak Peek #2 for the February 2026 update upon us, Supercell is hitting us with a massive wave of changes. While it might not have shiny new defenses, the balance changes and quality-of-life adjustments in this patch are going to completely shift how we play the game.
Let's dive right into the juicy details and what this means for our daily grind.
Ranked Mode Gets a Much-Needed Polish
Ranked Mode has been a hot topic since its introduction, with many players feeling a bit burnt out by the sheer volume of attacks required. Supercell has clearly been listening.
- Fewer Battles at the Top: For players in the higher brackets, like the Electro Leagues, the required battle count has been drastically reduced from 30 down to 24 attacks.
- Promo & Demo Zones Shifted: To better match player progression, the promotion and demotion thresholds have been adjusted. Depending on the league, we are seeing shifts of about 5 to 10 players moving up or down the ladder.
- Anti-Spam Protection: Ranked battles now follow the same rules as regular attacks. If you force-close the app, you must wait for the battle to finish before starting a new one.
My Thoughts: Lowering the battle count is a huge win for mental sanity. Ranked was starting to feel like a full-time job. However, the anti-spam protection will definitely change how players handle cleanup. Sometimes in Legends League, if you have one archer picking off a trash building for 50 seconds, force-closing was a nice way to save time. It’s a minor inconvenience, but understandable to curb loot-spamming in lower leagues.
5v5 Clan War Leagues are FINALLY Here!
For small, tight-knit clans, this is the update you've been waiting for: CWL now officially supports 5v5 wars!
However, there is a major catch. The 5v5 format is only available for Master League and below. If you are in Champions League, you are strictly locked to the standard 15v15 format. To encourage larger wars, Supercell is scaling the default bonus counts; a 30v30 war in Masters will yield 6 base bonuses, while a 5v5 in Masters will only yield 1.
My Thoughts: This is incredible for casual groups of friends who struggle to scrape together 15 reliable attackers every month. It takes the pressure off recruiting randoms just to fill a roster!
Balance Changes: The Guardian takes a MASSIVE Hit
Alright, let's get into the controversial stuff. The combat meta is getting a massive shakeup.
- Guardian Poison Interaction: Poison spells now affect Guardians, dealing full damage (though only 70% of the movement/attack speed debuff). But here is the crazy part—the Guardian can take poison damage even before it activates and is still sitting on the Town Hall. You can literally drop three poison spells on the Town Hall back-to-back and kill the Guardian weapon entirely before your army even gets close!
- Totem Spell Nerf: This spell was doing too much heavy lifting. Its stun radius has been reduced from 6 tiles to 5, and its drop damage has been completely removed. You can no longer use it to cheese skeleton traps or snipe defensive archers.
- Thrower Reversion: The recent Thrower Level 4 buff was partially reverted. They are keeping their movement speed increase (staying at 18), but their HP and DPS have been pulled back down.
My Thoughts: As a player, the Guardian interaction feels completely broken. Investing three poison spells to neutralize the toughest defense on the board without engaging it feels like an exploit, and honestly, Supercell might need to patch this so it only takes damage after activating. The Totem nerf, on the other hand, is completely fair; it was making Electro Dragon and Dragon Rider smashes way too oppressive.
Quality of Life, Fancy Shops, and Bug Fixes
There is a massive list of smaller changes that will make your day-to-day Clashing much smoother:
- The "Unbreakable" Achievement Nerf: The legendary 5,000 successful defenses achievement has been slashed to just 500 defenses. (RIP to the OG grinders who did it the hard way!)
- Hero Potions Fixed: Hero Potions and the Mighty Morsel now only apply to attacks. Previously, popping one before a clan war would max out your defensive heroes too, which was definitely an unintended exploit.
- New Fancy Shop Item: A Master Builder head statue is coming to the Fancy Shop when the new Crafted Defense season drops on April 1st, costing 500 points.
- Ore Bug Fixed: The infamous Ore exploit has been patched, and excess ores have been revoked (yes, your balance can go negative if you exploited it!).
Other Changes
Other Changes
Rounding out the update, there are quite a few minor fixes and detail additions to the UI:
- Fancy Shop UI: The "Add Effect" option will no longer show for those who don't have the Fancy Shop yet.
- Geared Up Defenses Info: Info-screen for geared up defenses (Cannon, Archer Tower, Mortar) now shows correct information. The damage calculation has always been off, so these values might look like a buff but they actually deal the same damage they always have.
- Longshot Attack Fix: Fixed Longshot attack's splash damage to correctly hit either ground or air, depending on if the target was ground or air, like most other units.
- Blacksmith Preview: The Blacksmith will now display equipment that is currently available in-game but not yet owned or unlocked, so players can see what they can obtain.
- Super Sauna Clarity: For troops that are not high enough level, the Super Sauna will now display what upgrade level is required to use a given super troop.
- Underground Combat Logic: Reworked the combat logic for underground units. Diggy and Miners will act more consistently when fighting a horde of Skeletons.
- Geared Up Mortar Fix: Fixed geared up Mortar's attack speed so that it doesn't fire with zero delay.
- Profile Icons Clickable: The profile icons of troops, heroes, spells, sieges, pets, and guardians are now clickable for locked items, and will show why they are locked.
- Hero Selector UI: The Hero Selector will now show locked heroes, locked common equipment, and locked pets.
- Toggle Effects: Visibility of the special effects on decos and shoveled obstacles can now be toggled on or off.
Final Thoughts
This patch feels like Supercell is doing some serious spring cleaning. Fixing the Hero Potion defense bug and addressing the Ore exploit shows they want to keep the competitive integrity intact. While the CWL changes and ranked quality-of-life updates are heavily welcomed, the Guardian-Poison interaction is something to keep a close eye on before the update goes fully live.
