Everything You Need to Know About the First Clash of Clans Update of 2026! (Sneak Peek 1)
Hey, fellow Clashers! If you’ve been waiting for a meta-shaking update to drop, your patience has finally paid off. Supercell is kicking off 2026 with a massive content drop, and after pouring over the sneak peeks, I have to say—this update changes everything about how we are going to plan our attacks.
We’re getting brand-new defense levels, game-changing troop upgrades, a brand new spell tower, and a pet that literally acts like a loot-hungry Goblin. Let’s dive deep into the details!
The Earthquake Spell Tower
By far, the most polarizing addition in this update is the new Level 4 Spell Tower, which unlocks the Earthquake Spell Tower.
Instead of dropping poison or invisibility, this tower hurls an Earthquake spell that instantly wipes out 30% of a troop's MAX hit points. It doesn't matter if the troop is at full health or barely clinging to life; that 30% chunk is based on their total HP pool.
My Thoughts: Honestly, this feels like a massive rock-paper-scissors mechanic being introduced into base building. If you are an Electro Titan or Meteor Golem spammer, you are going to suffer immensely against double Earthquake Tower bases. The catch? It doesn’t affect air troops at all!. If a balloon or dragon triggers this tower, they float right by safely. I expect base builders will heavily trap these towers against air to compensate, but right out of the gate, air attacks are getting an indirect, massive buff here.
The Greedy Raven
Upgrading your Pet House to Level 12 unlocks the newest companion: The Greedy Raven.
This is one of the most unique pets we’ve ever seen because it has an 8-tile range and specifically targets resource buildings (including the Town Hall!). It does 5x damage to storages. At max level (Level 10), it boasts 3,500 HP and deals a staggering 775 DPS to any resource structure it locks onto.
My Thoughts: At first glance, you might think, "Oh, it's just a farming pet." And yes, it will be an absolute menace for farming. But think about the competitive applications! Attaching this to an Archer Queen or an Air hero could help you core out a heavily protected Town Hall compartment in seconds. It might not replace top-tier combat pets entirely, but for targeted base-breaking, the Raven brings an undeniable niche.
Offense: Earthquake Spell Buffs & Troop Levels
We have a massive wave of new levels coming to the Laboratory!
- The Earthquake Spell Buff: This is huge. The Earthquake spell is getting new levels (up to Level 8), and it now damages defending units and heroes! At max level, it deals 14% troop damage. If you combo two of these with a Fireball, you can outright delete defending heroes before your army even reaches them.
- Troop Upgrades: We are getting new levels for the Archer, Baby Dragon, Electro Titan, Hog Rider, Witch, Lava Hound, and the Stone Slammer.
- Super Troop Scaling: Because the base troops are getting upgraded, their Super variants get buffed too. Super Hog Riders and Super Witches are going to be incredibly strong this meta. Regular Witches also get a bump with Level 2 Skeletons, making them much tankier when paired with the Grand Warden's Life Gem.
New levels for defenses & traps
Supercell heard our cries about the tedious "Supercharge" mechanics, so there are no supercharges for these new defense levels—just straight upgrades.
- Building Upgrades: The Inferno Tower (Level 12), Mortar, and Hidden Tesla are all getting stat bumps. The Mortar now fires awesome-looking cosmic rocks. Fun fact: The Fire Spitter is actually getting a slight DPS nerf compared to its fully supercharged lower level.
- Traps: The Giga Bomb hits Level 4, but the real star here is the Seeking Air Mine. It's getting +150 damage, meaning it will once again one-shot Healers, even if they are protected by the Warden's Life Gem. You better start bringing extra cocoa loons, or your Queen Walks are going to end in tragedy!
- Walls: 75 more wall pieces can now be upgraded to Level 19. Supercell even tweaked the visual design to make them darker and more aesthetically pleasing based on community feedback.
Final Thoughts on the Update
Writing this as a long-time player, I love the direction Supercell is taking here. The adjustment to the walls shows they are actually listening to our visual feedback. I do have some concerns about the Earthquake Spell Tower making the game feel a bit too "rock-paper-scissors" depending on whether you brought a ground or air army, but it’s definitely going to shake up the stale meta. And the Greedy Raven? I'm already saving up my Dark Elixir.
What do you guys think? Will you be running the Greedy Raven in your war attacks, or keeping it strictly for farming?
