Meet the Dragon Duke: Clash of Clans' Brand New Flying Hero
The wait is finally over! A new hero is soaring into Clash of Clans, and he's unlike anything we've seen before. Meet the Dragon Duke—a massive flying tank arriving on March 1st.
Whether you're a Town Hall 15 veteran or pushing through TH18, here is everything you need to know about the Dragon Duke's stats, equipment, and how to master his unique "Royal Rampage" mechanic.
Hero Stats
The Dragon Duke is built to take a beating. He boasts the second-highest HP of all heroes, trailing only the Barbarian King. While his base damage starts low, his unique passive ability makes him one of the most lethal forces on the map.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Unlock Requirement | Hero Hall Level 9 (Town Hall 15) |
| Max Level at TH15 | Level 10 |
| Max Level at TH16 | Level 15 |
| Max Level at TH17 | Level 20 |
| Max Level at TH18 | Level 25 |
| Attack Style | Melee (1.25 tile range) |
| Attack Type (Normal) | Physical Swipe |
| Attack Type (Enraged) | Dragon Breath |
| Enraged DPS (Max) | ~1,200 DPS |
The Royal Rampage Mechanic
The Dragon Duke's power is tied to his solitude. Similar to the Baby Dragon, he becomes Enraged when no other flying units are within a 6-tile radius.
When Enraged, he gains:
- +100% Damage: His DPS literally doubles.
- +50% Attack Speed: He strikes significantly faster, pushing his effective DPS to nearly 1,200 at max levels.
- -50% Trap Damage: Seeking Air Mines and other traps only deal half damage.
Pro Tip: Ground troops and your own hero pets (like the Phoenix or Angry Jelly) do not deactivate his rage! Only other flying troops (Dragons, Loons, etc.) will calm him down. Use this to your advantage!
New Hero Equipment
The Dragon Duke launches with three Common Equipment pieces. While Common equipment usually maxes at Level 18, it provides massive stat boosts to this hero's already high health.
Fire Heart
PassiveProvides massive Health Regeneration (175 HP/sec at max) and a base HP boost. Upon death, the Dragon Duke explodes, dealing up to 3,000 damage to the surrounding area.
Flame Blower
ActiveShoots a 12-tile cone of fire that deals 2,500 instant damage—enough to one-shot an Air Defense at max level.
Stun Blast
Active — Unlocks at TH16Releases a shockwave that damages and stuns everything (including heroes and Clan Castle troops) for 7.5 seconds. Does not affect Walls or Resource buildings.
How to Use the Dragon Duke
The Solo Specialist
Because of his Royal Rampage, the Duke is perfect for "hero dives" or clearing a corner of the base alone while your main army pushes the core. Deploy him far from your other air troops and watch him melt defenses with nearly 1,200 DPS.
The Ultimate Defender
On defense, he acts as a flying Barbarian King. Since he stays in the air, ground-only troops like PEKKAs or Root Riders cannot touch him while he burns them down from above.
Synergy Tips
- Pair him with the Angry Jelly to ensure he targets defenses and stays isolated to keep his damage doubled.
- Avoid deploying him alongside Dragons or Balloons—they'll break his rage.
- The Flame Blower shines on corner Air Defenses; the Stun Blast is a game-changer for hero duels.
My Thoughts: The Dragon Duke is a genuine meta-changer. The fact that ground troops don't break his rage opens up all kinds of hybrid attack strategies. A well-deployed Duke with the Angry Jelly could solo an entire side of a TH18 base. I'm also excited to see how the Stun Blast reshapes war attack timing—7.5 seconds is an eternity in Clash.
